Mayor of Redbridge raises SSPP's flag to open Fun Day.12 July 2016 (by adminuser) |
The Mayor, Cllr Gurdial Bhamra, officially opened the day by raising the SSPP flag on our new flagpole which was purchased by the Parents' Association along with two outside game activity tables for the children to enjoy at break times.
The day began with a Mass in the school hall celebrated by Fr Andrew before the Mayor arrived to officially open the day.
Despite rain, thunder, lightning and hail stones, spirits were not dampened and the community turned out to join in the fun. Home-cooked food from every corner of the earth, displays of street dancing and Bollywood, face-painting, henna art, nail-painting, raffles and football were just a few of the activities children took part in. In between downpours, the crowd enjoyed a Viking re-enactment on the field, rounded off with a flyby from the Red Arrows. A great day was had by all. A big thank you to the PA for all their hard work organising the event.
