Y3 and Y4 Football - April 2024

Children from Year 3 and Year 4 were chosen to represent our school in a football competition at Frenford FC. The tournament was set up by the West Ham Academy as they were looking for potential new talent from schools in Redbridge.  Some children were representing our school for the first time and can certainly hold their heads up high!

After taking a few matches to find their feet, the boys performed admirably and got themselves into the final after 4-1 and 3-0 wins in the quarters, and semi-finals.

We took an early lead in the final and with just 3 minutes to go the other team equalised. In the last minute of normal time, they unfortunately scored the winning goal. However, this takes nothing away from the effort and hard-work they put into their performances and came away with second place medals which they were all delighted about! You could call it a silver lining!

Y6 Netball Result

A team from Y6, who have been attending weekly training after-school, took part in the Borough netball tournament at Redbridge Sports Centre.

Twenty teams participated, playing four matches each in order to find out winners and runners-up in each of the four groups.  Our team from SSPP won three of their four matches, meaning they came second in their group, therefore progressing to the quarter final stages.

Unfortunately, on the day we were beaten by a slightly stronger team and were eliminated at this point.  However, the team played every match with commitment, grit and determination, ensuring that their performance was outstanding in all games.

As is always the case when staff take teams out of school for tournaments, each and every pupil was a true credit to the school and they were all able to leave the Sports Centre with their heads held high and feeling proud of both their achievement and behaviour.

Y6 Football Result

Friday, 13th March saw our football team play in their first league match of the season.   The game was played on home soil against St Aidan's.  The team played an outstanding game of football, working well as a together and ensuring all areas of the pitch were covered.  They were a credit to the school, winning the game 5-3.  Well done team, good luck for Monday!!!

Proud winners of Bronze!!!

On Thursday, 12th March a team of children from Y4 represented the school in a football tournament hosted by Mayespark Primary School.

Eight local schools were participating and our team were able to secure a place in the quarter finals by coming top of their league.  They went on to win their quarter final match before losing in the semi-finals to Gordon Road Primary School.  However, they went on to compete in the match for third place, playing against (and beating) Cleveland Primary School to come home wearing a beautiful bronze medal each.

Well done to all of our players, who represented the school with an amazing attitude towards each game, as well as exhibiting outstanding behaviour throughout the afternoon.  The winning of a bronze medal definitely made their day!  Well done Y4!

Sportshall Athletics: Thursday, 30th January

Y5 took part in a range of sporting activities at Beal High School.  They competed against 10 other schools during the morning session, trying their hand at a number of jumping and throwing competitions.  They were also all involved in at least one running event, where they all performed to the very best of their abilities.  Once again, we were the best-dressed school, turning up in our beautiful school tracksuits and behaving impeccably throughout the morning.  Thank you must also go to Palmer Catholic Academy for providing the transport to and from the event - without their support, these events may not be as accessible for us.

UPDATE:

The official results have just been announced and our two girls who competed in the Speed Bounce competition came second overall in the morning session - well done girls!!

High-5 Netball Tournament: 28th November 2019

A group of children who attend the Netball after-school club represented the school at their first competition.  Having only learned the rules a couple of weeks before the competition, the team improved with every match they played.  Each and every member played their part, ensuring that they utilised the skills they'd been taught in training.   Their behaviour and sportsmanship was excellent and the whole team was a credit to the school.  Thank you to the Palmer Catholic Academy for their continued support in providing transport to and from the event.

Football Tournament: 13th November 2019

Our football team took part in a 7-a-side tournament involving 22 schools in the Borough.  This was the first time our team had played in competitive matches and they certainly made Mrs Woodhouse and Mrs Sutton proud.  Their discipline and behaviour throughout the day was outstanding and their performance improved with every match played.  Although they came third in their group, meaning they did not progress to the play-offs, the team made it clear that they had enjoyed every moment of the day.
